Function of the Position:
The Senior Director Operations will provide strategic direction and leadership to effectively support organization’s non-scientific operations. The incumbent will be responsible in overseeing aspects of operations and managing the activities of USP-China. Supervises department employees and outside consultants, advises China Leadership on issues and organizational development strategies. The Senior Director, Operations have direct responsibility to cover the functions like Quality Assurance, Environment Health & Safety, Human Resources, Administration & Facility, Logistics.
Roles and responsibilities
? Provides overall leadership and management of the Quality Assurance, Environment Health & Safety, Human Resources, Administration & Facility, Logistics to ensure that each department fulfills its goals and objectives, and aligned with the strategy of USP.
? Directs the assigned departments and provide strategic input in the general management of the organization in close support of the VP & GM, USP-China to achieve its operating goals in accordance with sound general management principles, regulatory standards, and the USP mission.
? Develops, executes, and monitors plans and programs, both short- and long-range to support business goals and the objectives of the organization.
? Collaborates with China Leadership Team and Functional Managers to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of policies, systems, processes and resources allocation to improve the overall effectiveness of USP-China.
? Responsible for developing and continuously improving the administrative structure of USP-China.
? Ensures the professional development (education and training) of direct reports and their Dept. employees in terms of leadership, management and continuing education in their respective areas.
? Maintains compliance with applicable regulations affecting the operations of the company.
? Support science outreach programs through coordination with assigned departments in Operations.
? Establish solid relationships with local trade/professional associations to promote USP’s mission and business objectives.
? Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Professional qualification with Master degree in Business or related field. Prior experience in Operations Management are preferred. Excellent communication and leadership skills with 15 plus years of demonstrated experience in development and implementation of various strategic leadership activities is a must. Working for large corporate or MNCs or science based organizations with matrix reporting structure is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
? Working experience, education and/or training in US/Europe are preferred.
? Working for a multinational pharmaceutical company, contract research organization would be a plus.
? A good knowledge and understanding of China government regulations pertaining to the pharmaceutical industry, customs requirements.
? Excellent leadership skills with proved records in building, motivating, challenging, and rewarding teams.
? Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and generate collaborations.
? Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and diverse projects concurrently.
? Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain high level of confidentiality
? Strong analytical skills, strategic thinker, planner, intellectually curious.
? Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills in English and Chinese.
? Team player with high integrity and an open, interactive style with strong interpersonal skills.
